Deja Vu

It's deja vu!  Two weeks after our week-long snow break, the winter brought another snowstorm our way.  This is so rare for Atlanta, but nevertheless, we were prepared this go round.  We made sure to be home when it hit.  The biggest fear was ice and therefore, power outages from down trees and power lines.  The boys and I made our grocery store rounds Monday afternoon in preparation of being home for a week.  We had to go to two stores because they were out of milk at Publix.  I think the boys liked this because they received cookies at both places.  Lines were long and shelves were bare, but they were cooperative.  I felt ready at home with 5 1/2 gallons of milk, 4 gallons of water (and an extra 24 bottles,) 36 eggs, 2 loaves of bread, 36 yogurt smoothies and our regular grocery list.  We filled our tub with water each night and had a large stacks of firewood ready just in case we were without power and needed warmth.  Thankfully, neither were needed.  The snow came last and this snow was awesome!  We were home, prepared, and safe.  This snow was better to play in, too.  Unlike before, it was packable yet still soft.  This came in handy for snowballs and snowmen.  Of course, sledding is great either way!
We woke up to this gorgeous sight!
Left off the porch.....Right off the porch.
The woods were beautiful with the white snow on branches.
Right away, the boys were having a ball!
We loved having Daddy home to play with us!
Trenton played like it was sand.
Trenton's favorite thing was to make snowballs.  It worked so well this time.  Bennett loved to watch.
Bennett would climb up and down our steps.  Luckily, they were not slippery.  He liked jumping into the snow.
 My snow buddy!
I enjoyed the "watching" with Bennett and Daddy got down and dirty playing with the boys.
Daddy shows Bennett where Trenton is.  Bennett joins in the snow ball fight.  Trenton's snowballs got bigger and bigger.
He learned the harder he worked, the better they became.  He was determined!  Gotcha, Daddy!
Of course we brought the sled out!  They love sledding!!!
Trenton works on his next snowball.  We showed him how to roll it in the snow to make it bigger.  Quick learner.
Bennett gets pulled all over the yard.
Trenton chases them with a snowball.
I love seeing how much fun they have in the snow!  It's special to have this much snow this winter!
 More and more sledding.
 Buddy sledding is fun, too!
 Here the brothers go.
That was fun!  More.....more.....Bennett's favorite words!
Trenton eventually made a snowball this big (and all by himself!)  He rolled it down the street and back.  Daddy only helped to get it back up the hill to the front yard.  He was proud of himself (and tired!)  We tried to convince him to let it be the base of a snowman, but all he wanted was a snowball he said.
Daddy and Bennett build a little snowman.
Looking out from the porch.  Trenton is armed and dangerous!
We even played a little football (or touchdown in the words of Bennett) in the snow.  Tackling was fun!
Daddy hands the ball off to our full back, Trenton.
Trenton breaks free and scores a touchdown!!  He is equally as active in the snow.  Nothing slows him down!  I enjoy his energy!
Our snow-covered cutie pie watches the fun!  He is so content doing anything active or simply being an onlooker.  I love this about him!
So, the previous 2 days we had been out of school.  The temperatures were below freezing.  The funny thing was, those were more ice days from rain (only about an inch of snow on top.)  But today, we had the massive snowfall on top of all that and the temps quickly reached 40.  By 11:00 when we came back inside for lunch, the bottom layer of snow was already getting slushy.  The sun was melting things fast!  Even the branches in the woods did not contain snow anymore.  The boys napped after lunch.  When we came back out in the afternoon (4ish) this is what we saw......the roads were completely melted and little snow remained in yards.  However, anything tightly packed (like the many snowmen throughout the neighborhood) didn't melt that much.  We enjoyed seeing all these creative builds as we took a walk.  We liked this fat snowman.  Down the street, there was a tall 8+ ft snowman and a bunny carved out of the snow.  I have a feeling our snow days are over, but what a fun, playful (and memorable) winter it has been.  Georgia's groundhog did predict an early spring......only time will tell!
