Trenton turned 4 months today and is all grins about it! He now weighs 14 lbs 2 oz and is 24 1/2 inches long. This is between the 25-50 percentile. However, his head circumference is 17 inches putting him in the 75 percentile there. No wonder he's so smart! :) Although he still fits into many 3 month outfits, he really has graduated up to the 3-6 month wardrobe. They might be a slightly big on our little guy but they are definitely manageable, and he is looking more like a baby by wearing them than an infant. This is bittersweet for Mommy who loves all Trenton's new, "growing up" tricks, but who doesn't want to see her little boy grow up too soon.
Trenton biggest accomplishment this month was sleeping through the night. Mommy and Daddy are so proud of Trenton's 10-11 hour bedtime routine. What a difference it makes! And yes, even though Trenton doesn't make a sound, I still look at the video monitor at least 5 times a night. Daddy laughs at this but it's just a mother's instinct, I guess.
Gripping has always been fun for Trenton but now he really grips things. My hair has become a favorite to tug. There's no telling how much hair I've lost this month due to him. Every time we look he has stands of blonde hair in his fist--oh well! While laying on his play mat or sitting in his car seat, Trenton reaches and grabs at his dangling toys. He always tries to put any of these toys in his mouth--if they reach! The ball is still a struggle for him but he still enjoys hanging onto it.
As you can see, the baby mullet has pretty much disappeared. It suddenly happened over night. Mommy still remembers Daddy looking at the video monitor and saying, "You can't even see his mullet anymore on this!" That's when we realized it was about gone. Very quickly, the sandy blonde hair is growing in where his long, dark baby hair has fallen out.
We did away the car seat (with infant bar) on the stroller this month and just lay him directly in the baby jogger. Although he looks tiny in it and his legs don't even hang over the fold, he seems to enjoy the propped up position for walks and sightseeing. (He'll take the flat position, too, but only when asleep.)
He still enjoys the baby bjorn as well. We position him facing outward these days because he holds his neck up strong and wants to see what is going on around him. This works conveniently with us.
The tv has intrigued Trenton recently. Although he will watch anything from the news to cartoons to Baby Einstein, he prefers sports. (I know this is no surprise to many of you because of Mommy and Daddy's interest in sports! ) While burping, he grunts when Daddy doesn't have him facing the Braves. This has happened on many occasions and it makes us laugh because Daddy then has to watch the game in the mirror. Looks like we may have a short stop on our hands! :)
Trenton has never been that difficult to put to sleep. Yes, all babies have their moments of "beyond tired" but those are far and in between for Trenton. We feel very blessed by this. I do think we have finally perfected our manner of which we put him to sleep and have learned his favorite soothing techniques. Our house is not big, so pacing from the guest bath through our bedroom to the master bath seems to be the way to go. We turn the fans on in the bathrooms and he loves the humming noise. With a slight rock, soft pat on the back, or gentle bounce, he is asleep in minutes. Mommy has sung "Jesus Loves Me", "Jesus Loves the Little Children", and "God Our Father" over and over to him so many times that just the tune of those song seem to instantly relax him.
Of course his smiles have gotten even more contagious this month and his talking has become louder. He really squeals a tons in excitement and has you in hysterics. Every time you approach him to give him a kiss, he opens his mouth huge. This isn't anything new really; however, he screams in excitement as your get nearer. It is adorable!
We really enjoy all the love and happiness Trenton brings daily to our lives! Babies are such a precious gift!
Trenton is excited about turning 4 months.
Big smiles these days!
