We asked for snow, and we got it! When it came, it hit our town hard. School were released early as the flake began their steady flow mid morning, and immediately the roads iced over. By noon, roads were jammed with everyone leaving to get home. Atlanta was paralyzed. Literally. It took my 1 hr 45 min to drive my 5 mile trek to the sitters house and then 3 hrs from there to get home with the kids (a normal 20 min drive.) I have never seen anything like this. Every street and highway were bumper to bumper. Traffic was at a stand still. Everywhere. Cars were abandoned on the side of roads. Hills had cars sliding in the attempt to make it up them. Luckily, the boys napped the first part of the drive, then were playing in the back the second half. They were wonderful! I had snacks, and Trenton only had to take one pee break in the snow. We turned around because of road closures a few times, but eventually made it home, safely thanks to our 4 wheel drive. This we are thankful for!
Kevin's commute was worse, but all we wanted was for him to make it home safely and this we got! He was in the car over almost 10 hours and finally arrived home at 2am. He had to park his car at the entrance of our neighborhood and walk the remainder of the way. I enjoyed hearing his stories, some humorous (A guy driving with a gallon of milk on his car!) and others scary (He got stuck once, but managed to get back on road with the help of a stranger.) The snowpocalypse is here!
Trenton ran around immediately.
Bennett watched and took it all in.
Then the playing took full force!
Trenton helped Bennett enjoy it, that's for sure!
Snowball anyone? Time to sled! I pulled them and they rode together down smaller hills.
Bennett liked pulling the sled himself, too.We left our marks on the yard. It was getting dark and we had been outside for a solid hour. Time to warm up!
I had sushi for dinner, and Trenton enjoyed eating his chicken nuggets with chopsticks. He's a riot!
