Twins' Dr. Seuss Birthday Party

Happy Birthday Hudson and Sawyer!  We had fun at your Dr. Seuss brithday party!  The clown was a huge hit.  Trenton really enjoyed the giraffe hat and getting to meet The Cat in the Hat.

Trenton patiently waits for the clown to create a balloon hat for him to wear.
 On it goes.....
And it is a hit!!!  He thought he was hysterical in the hat.
It is a giraffe balloon hat.
Trenton ran up to hug The Cat immediately.
Then, he poised for a picture with the go-go-go character.  (He calls the show that.)

Just a Playin' in the Rain

Trenton loves his new frog umbrella that goes perfectly with his rain boots!  And then, we had the best opportunity to test out this duo when it rain Saturday.  The alley was ideal for the splashing, especially since there mud wasn't involved and there was not any traffic.  Mommy put on her boots to join in the fun and Trenton loved that.  To many more rain days......and my little kermit!

Trenton soon realized he could go faster without the umbrella.

Puzzles Anyone?

Puzzles are another popular hit with Trenton right now.  Granna has a Buzz Lightyear one at her house that especially catches his attention.  He likes for you to sit down and help him put it together, and then, always asks for more in his cute, little voice.

2 Year Check Up

Well, we had surprising news at Trenton's 2 year well appointment.  It wasn't his weight--25 lbs 12 oz (still in the 20% percentile) or his height of 35 in (still in the 75%), but he ironically had strep throat.  Oddly enough, he woke up and threw up a couples times before our 8:50 appointment that morning.  Thinking nothing of it and assuming it must be food/milk related, I was certain nothing was wrong.  The doctor said he'd do a strep culture to rule it out, just in case.  Whatever, I thought, there is no way!  He's had strep once before and ran a high fever and acted super sick.  Well, surprisingly enough, it came out positive.  This happy, spirited child was apparently coming down with something, but thankfully we caught it early!  You never would have thought it!  He laughed with the doc (as Trenton calls him), easily let the nurse swob his throat, and didn't even flench with the finger prick (actually, he loved the fact he got a band-aid and proudly showed it off.)   We had the best time in the doctor's office this visit!

So far, the morning had not been too much of an adventure for having a sick child.  Then, the tide turned!  By this time, Trenton was so hungry and thirsty that I had to let him munch on a little piece of bread and sip some water.  What the heck was I thinking?!  While in the process of handing of the prescription to the pharmacist, Trenton who had fallen asleep on the drive home from the doctor was in and out of sleep, began moaning.  Then, disaster struck!  My poor little guy not only threw up all over himself, but managed to get me soaked and made a huge mess on Publix's floor.  I felt terrible for him and the people around me!  And, we still had to wait for the prescription to be processed.  It was the longest 20 minutes of "grocery" shopping ever!  Some kids react differently with strep, including throwing up and not running a fever.  Trenton was one of those cases apparently this go 'round.

Two days later, mommy was home sick, and two days after that, it was Daddy and Granny turns.  We think it was a stomache bug on top of strep, with the bug being passed along.  We luckily never had strep but the stomach virus was no fun either!

Hutch Goes Home

Hutch was released from the hospital after a few days.  Thankfully, he is doing great!  Thanks for your prayers!

Park Fun

The Sunday after Trenton's party was absolutely beautiful!  We went to the neighborhood park and ran around playing all kinds of sports with GiGi and PaPaw.  We started with soccer, trying to teach Trenton not to use his hands.  It was some what helpful, but he incorporated his hands more than you were to supposed to.  Useless cause at the age of 2, I guess.  He also played catch with his new glove.
After the park, PaPaw and Daddy worked a bit on the jeep.  Trenton couldn't resist joining in the manly activity.  He was right there with the guys, tools by his side, working under the car.  He even remembered how Daddy wears the head lamps when "working" (although he was not wearing it this day) and went immediately to the shelf where it was.  He had to wear it to "work" regardless of the bright sunshiny day.  :)

Trenton running around the park playing soccer.
 Trenton--no hands! :)
A little distracted by the tree.  Mommy showed him when he was just learning to walk how to pick bark off a birch tree near the park.  Now, he randomly goes up to trees and attempts to pull off the bark.  Sometimes he is successful and other times it is a worthless cause.
Now he starts to get the hang of it.

PaPaw helps him catch Daddy's throw.
Ut-oh, we've mixed up the sports!  Trenton throws the baseball threw the soccer goal.
Time to work on the jeep.
 This oughta do it!
Hmmmm, let me take a closer look.

Our Buckaroo is Turning 2

It's party time now!  Mommy has only been planning the big day since the summer!  The days of the wedding are over.  What is left to plan but children's birthday parties each year?  Mommy has the best time doing this! (And Daddy thinks she's a little crazy!)

Trenton's 2nd birthday theme was Our Buckaroo is Turning 2!  We went all out with the western/cowboy theme.  From stick ponies and hats to wild west nicknames and bandannas, each decoration was planned to the tee. Although we initially didn't realize how much we would enjoy holding the party at a play venue, we definitely agree that is was the way to go.  Our house is just too small for that many toddlers and January does not present the best month for outdoor adventures.  We were very happy with 123 Jump and like how we had the space to ourselves while also being able to add our special western touches to the place.

The kids bounced and ran literally around like outlaws of the wild west!  It was the perfect environment for a 2 year old's birthday party!  It was also nice how they entertained themselves with the bounce houses; however, at times assistance was needed in the more difficult ones.  The adults could chat and watch the kiddos wear themselves out!

Thanks everyone who attended!  You are such an important part of Trenton and our lives and made this day special for Trenton!

Trenton, we love you and can't believe you are already two years old!  My how time has flown!  We still vividly remember the day you were born.  You have accomplished so much in such a short amount of time and have much more fun ahead of you.  You brighten the lives of each and every person you encounter.  You will never realize how much joy you bring to everyone around you, especially Daddy and me!

We made birthday boxes instead of a birthday banner.  There were stick ponies for the guests to gallop on into the party on.
Mommy, Trenton and Daddy on Trenton's special day
The entrance also had pictures of Trenton and the names of his "Wild East Cobb Gang"
 There was a cowboy cake.
Vintage pictures of Trenton and his "gang" from throughout the last year hung above the food table.  We served chick-fil-a nuggets, pumpkin bread, grapes, cheese, trail mix, and there was a general store at the end with buckaroo bottled water and big swirl lollipops.
The gift table had cowboy hats, photo albums, and party favors.
There was a perfect picnic area for Trenton and his 14 guests.
Kids could ride around on the stick ponies; however, this wasn't too popular at this age.
More fun took place inside the bounce houses.....
 And going down the slides.....
 And climbing up the walls.....
And going down more slides...... (Trenton and Hudson)
And bouncing with balls.....
And playing with the train table.... (Jackson, Hudson (Powell), Trenton, and Sawyer)
Finally, they settled down briefly for lunch.   Trenton and Will sit here together.
Trenton was all smiles when it was cake time.  He only takes a couple bites but really gets a kick out of the birthday cake ordeal.
He was ready to blow the candles out from across the room.  We could barely make it through "Happy Birthday"
The candles were out in a flash!  No problems here!  Guess his wish will come true! (If there was time to make one!)
Rylan and Trenton enjoy the cake.
GiGi was smart to hand out party favors since all too often people leave parties without grabbing the goodies.  The kids got cowboy hats, balloons, and a favor bag (a harmonica and deck of cards wrapped in a bandanna with a sheriff badge.)

Nephew/Cousin

Please pray for our nephew/cousin, Hutch.  He has RSV and was checked into Vanderbilt Medical Center this week.  He is only 3 weeks old, so we know this is tough on the family.  We will let you know when he has been discharged.  Thanks!

Hide and Go Seek

December was a big month for Trenton and hide and go seek once Daddy introduced it to him.  He practically talks anyone into it now, and he can play forever!  He likes to count on the stairs to ten (with your help) and then run to find you.  More often than not, you are the one hiding because he can't stay in his hiding spot long enough for you to go look for him.  As soon as he's there, he is up again.  It wasn't surprising that he talked Granna into playing with him.

 Granna hides under the table.
Trenton screams in excitement as he finds her.
His turn to hide....but he won't stay seated long!

Trenton Turns 2!

Where has time gone?  Our little boy is 2!  It is so hard to believe!  The last two years have been the best years of our lives!  Everyday is so special, and Trenton continues to make us laugh and smile on a daily basis.  He is so full of life, absolutely hilarious with his expression/comments/moves, and just the most loving child anyone has ever seen.  Our lives are so much more meaningful these days knowing this precious little child depends on us.  We definitely feel blessed to be Trenton's parents!

Granna and Opa brought Trenton a huge 2 balloon!
Yes, I'm 2 and already a charmer!  He loves telling people he's 2, partly because it is his favorite number and partly because we've made such a big deal about him turning 2 this year.  He understands so much these days!
The bouncy ball was the hit toy of his birthday afternoon.  We bounced it for about an hour straight, and he loved every moment of chasing it down.
Cupcake time!  We got GiGi's Cupcakes (a store) but ironically GiGi was also in town to celebrate the day with us!
Trenton was proud of himself for blowing out the candle.
He couldn't hold 2 fingers up on one hand, so he held the pointer fingers of each hand up to represent 2.
After we took all that icing off, he dug right in.
Present time!  He is on a roll from Christmas!
The big reveal was Trenton's new kitchen from Granna and Opa.  He loves to make you food and push all the nifty buttons on the kitchen.  The stove even sizzles when you put a pot on it.  GiGi and PaPaw gave Trenton a roller coaster which he was able to open early and enjoy all over Christmas break!
