Christmas Eve Morning

Bennett had a really rough night last night.  He spiked a fever of 103 around midnight.  I gave him tylenol.  He continued to be restless during the night.  He slept in until 8:45--super late--he was probably making up for all that restless time!  Then, he was on fire again when he woke up.  This time 104.9!  He had had a couple fever incidents last week, but one dose of tylenol seemed to make him all better, and he appeared fine Sunday and during the day Monday.  Plus, we were just at the doctor last week for his 18 month well check.  Of course, now it is Christmas Eve.  After talking with the on-call doctor from our pediatrician, it was clear that he must be seen immediately.  The nearest Children's Urgent Care center didn't open until 11 am.  Seems kind of crazy to open at 11 M-F if you ask me!  So, I went there to camp out for a number.  In the 30 degree, cold weather, Bennett and I got there just before 10:00, and thankfully, we were first in line.  They have a system implemented were you grab a token with a number on it, so we managed to sit in the car for first half hour where it was nice and warm.  However, we he got a little antsie, I mentioned the word walk.  He was all about that.  I bundle him up and covered him with a blanket.  Anything to keep him comfortable.  We walked up and down the sidewalk on Busbee Parkway, not wandering too far from the building.  We even weaved in and out of the parking aisles.  When I stopped to get ready to go in, he was not happy.  It was a quick reminder of how sick he was.  Bennett never cries like this (unless he's on Santa's lap! LOL!)  After a quick visit, he was diagnosed with sinus and ear infections and put on Amoxicillin.  Ibuprophen was to be used every 6 hrs.  But, the fever never ceased. :(
