Celebrating 1 Week with Ice Cream

Bennett is one week old today! Let's celebrate....with Bruster's ice cream. Really, we all just wanted a sweet treat, and drug our sleeping baby along for the ride.  We figured it was about time he had a real outing besides the doctor's office.  You see, Trenton got accustomed to Brusters when Mommy was pregnant.  I still remember the Saturday I turned and asked Kevin if he wanted to go get ice cream at Brusters and Trenton looked at us and said, "Baby cone?"  It was obvious at that point that Trenton had been to Bruster before.  Kevin just laughed.  I mean, it was our special after school treat.  :)

We are still amazed at how easy Bennett is!  I mean really, does this happen?  I was scared to death of the exhaustion with two little kiddos, but Bennett makes me want a 3rd!  We hope his easy going personality sticks!

Trenton wonders why the baby isn't eating any ice cream.

There is a good thing about being under 40 inches......a free baby cone at Brusters!!!

Saturday Morning Cartoons

Trenton insisted this morning that he hold Bennett, not us.  The two of them curled up on the recliner to watch Mickey Mouse Clubhouse together.  Bennett is lucky to have Trenton as his older brother!

Friday Photos

Stay tuned.....we had our newborn photo session today.  Bennett was as cooperative an infant could be, and surprisingly stayed awake for almost the entire 2 hr endeavor.  He only drifted off to sleep for a 15 min catnap in the middle.  This is great for a 6 day old baby!  Trenton, on the other hand, was not too enthralled with the camera.  Hopefully there are a couple good ones with him included.  :)

Bathing Bennett

I think the pictures pretty much explain how Bennett's first bath at home went.  This cold little fellow probably could have been heard throughout our neighborhood.  Granna got the privledge of giving his first bath.  She did it for Trenton, so why not Bennett too.  It gets better, Bennett, just wait until you can go underwater and not have to only have a sponge bath!  The whale tub is waiting for you and Trenton can't wait to get it down from the attic!

Trenton watches on as his little brother bellows out.
Nice, warm, and cozy.....just the way Bennett likes it!
I love Bennett's soft and spiky hair after his bath!

Presents From the Heart

We just love Great Grandma's presents!  They are homemade and straight from the heart!  Not only did we get a quilt when we got married, but she always makes a unique quilt for each of her grandchildren when they are born with a special message sewn on the corner.  We were delighted to get a cute owl one for Bennett.  We know Bennett is going to use it often as he grows, but right now it sits on display on the bookcase in his nursery.  However, to Trenton he was not overly excited with Bennett's quilt, but the other item in the box.....a cape!  You see, when in Franklin, Trenton would wear Daddy's cape that Great Grandma made for him when he was a child.  He love it and now he has a special one all for himself (you'll have to share with Bennett when he gets older, Trenton!)  He zoomed around the house the night we opened the present and since then has worn in out and about in the neighborhood.  He is either Buzz or Superman in it depending on the day.  We will always think of you, Great Grandma, when we see the boys' quilts and this cape.  Thanks!
Front view--so fast it was hard to get good pictures.

Home from work and ready to hold his newest son!
Superman insisted on helping Daddy "fix" which means start the swing for baby Bennett.
Bennett loves the swing and it frees up our hands for Trenton-time!
On to the next child...Trenton and Daddy play Superman in the family room.
Superman is flying!  So precious to see them playing together and the excitement on Trenton's face when his Daddy walks in the door from work.  Trenton absolutely adores his Daddy, and I know Bennett will, too!

First Doctor's Appointment

Bennett had his first doctor's appointment today.  Granna dropped Bennett and me off at the doctors since I'm not supposed to drive for 1-2 weeks, and she took Trenton on a hike at Kennesaw Mnt to kill time while we were there.  I love Kenmar Pediatrics!  The office staff is so welcoming and the nurse and doctors are perfect with kids.  They know us by name and were overjoyed to meet the newest Wagers boy.  It makes you feel confident in your doctor selection as a parent!

Bennett was 7 lbs 2 oz, a healthy weight after the initial baby loss at the hospital and regain once the milk comes in, and he grew 1/2 and inch to 20 1/2 in long.  The rest of his check up was normal as well.  We feel blessed to have a healthy baby boy!
 Bennett ready for the doctor.
He got an A+ from the doctor!
Unlike Trenton, Bennett actually likes the car seat position (so far) and stayed asleep for 2 hours in it once we got home.
Opa came to visit his boys when he finished up work that afternoon.

Meet Mrs. Kristen

One of our best friends Mrs. Kristen came to meet Bennett. She not only brought dinner for us, but fun legos for Trenton. (A new baby brother is Christmas to Trenton!) We enjoyed her visit and introducing her to the newest Wagers.
