We could not have asked for a better weekend! Trenton had just moved up in age groups at the church nursery, so this was his first week in his new classroom. He did pretty well given the fact that he was tired and in a new place. We treated him afterwards to a little play time on the church playground. He found his favorite red slide there and will probably want to play every time after church from now on.
After lunch, Trenton took a long nap. We thought he was sleeping the beautiful day away, but he finally woke at 4:30 with a couple good hours of sunlight left. And, he spent almost every minute of his wakeful hours outside enjoying his playtime. Granna and Opa had given Trenton his first Trike for his birthday, and a deluxe version it was with a cup holder, cell phone, sunshade, and our favorite a push handle for the adults. He was instantly excited from the moment we strapped him in.
We must have walked over a mile around the neighborhood before we finally decided to call it quits. However, the fun didn't stop. We played more t-ball in the back yard and slid down the slide. He was having so much fun! Before we knew it, it was time to head inside for dinner.
We have been blessed with a very good little eater. Today's side to dinner were squash and asparagus--two of Trenton's favorites, but that didn't satisfy him enough. Bring on the steak! Trenton enjoyed his first New York Strip today. Who knew a little 12 month year old could be such a mature eater?! It was a big day for a big boy!
Daddy straps Trenton in safely to his new Trike.

Outdoor Fun
With the random warm weekend in January, Daddy got out Trenton's t-ball set that Mr. Lamar and Mrs. Lorene gave him for his birthday. (All these wonderful goodies! We are so lucky!) Trenton loved playing ball, but Mommy thinks Daddy loved teaching him how to grip the bat even more! (Not that he will remember, but hey, we start with the fundamentals in our family!) Daddy is going to be a wonderful coach one day!
Not only did Trenton get a kick out of hitting the ball, but he got a kick out of Mommy in the "outfield" who would run the ball back up to them at the t after each hit. We can tell he is going to be bugging us to play t-ball often!
We continued our outdoor fun at the Chattahoochie River Park. Granna and Opa met us there for a walk and then we stopped periodically at the various playgrounds to let Trenton play. He also was able to feed the ducks at one stop.

Walking Dude!
Everyone says it happens over night and it seems like it did for us. For months, Trenton had been holding on to things and manuevering his way around rooms. He had even taken a few steps on his own. But finally, he is officially walking, and it happened so suddenly. We were over at our neighbors for the NFL playoff game, came home, and looked up to our little Trenton taking 17 steps! Drastic, huh?! It appears as though he was more eager to walk when items were in his hands. Guess this prevents him from crawling. It is such a precious sight to see him toddling towards you or towards his toys. He is so delighted with himself and his accomplishment, and we are too!
Look, I'm walking!!!!

Trenton and Books
Trenton really hasn't gotten into books yet. He is just too active! Ever since he could move, that is the least thing on his mind. We are assuming it will change soon and that we won't have an ADHD child (just kidding!) but we have found one book he loves. Elmo Says was given to him from his Great Aunt Carolyn for Christmas and that is one that does interest him. Now, don't expect Trenton to sit on your lap for the duration of the book (or even the first page) but you can expect him to laugh and smile when you act out the different parts Elmo wants you to do. It definitely will catch his attention when you are reading it to him while he is playing, too. It sure is a fun book to read with him--Mommy loves this time because of his adorable reactions!

Trenton's Playdates
Trenton has absolutely loved his Pottery Barn chair GiGi and PaPaw gave him for his birthday! His favorite thing is to climb all over it and stand on the seat. He was glad his friend Rylan came over to play so he could show it off to him. The boys would climb all over it and peer out the window hoping we'd take them outside. We will boys, we promise, once it warms up some!
So funny that Trenton has a pacie in his mouth! He never has taken them--we tried! They are like toys to him at this age. He must have found one in the toy box.

Trenton's First Birthday Party!
We can't believe it is here....Trenton's 1st birthday! The snow this week (which is still thick on the ground!) worried us, but the party will go on! Opa shoveled the sidewalk, Granna made the Chili, PaPaw flew into town, and GiGi helped Aunt Suzy and the kids drive down from Nashville. We all were getting ready for the big day!
Trenton had a Baby Zoo animal birthday theme and Mommy went all out making banners for the different walls and decorating the room to fit the theme. It was so much fun for her! Trenton had his special 1st birthday hat and bib for the cake eating experience. We were set and ready for the guests.
We couldn't have asked for a better party. With 11 children, all under the age of 3 1/2, you wonder how chaotic the room would be. I'm proud to say, there was never a crying episode. Trenton must pick his friends wisely! :) The children loved the play area and toys set up there, but the biggest hit were the zoo animal beach balls.
The cake eating was probably the highlight of the party! Lots of people asked me how I thought he would react with all the people and their eyes glued to him. That was never a fear of mine with Trenton's friendly and social personality. I did wonder about his hat. Mommy was all excited to dress Trenton up for the event, but when Trenton immediately started tugging at his birthday hat, she got worried. Nevertheless, the instance the cake was in sight, the "annoying" hat thought had vanished from Trenton's mind. He was very particular with the cake. He stared at it first, gently took off the toy monkey, slowly scrapped off a little icing and then stuck his face completely into the cake and the eating began. Who knows how much cake he actually got, but one thing was for certain. He liked the taste of the cream cheese icing!
Presents followed the cake. This was hilarious. We had helpers opening presents for us, climbers enjoying the boxes, babies playing with tape and ribbon.....lots going on at once. We laughed at the thought that we'd lost control at one point when we looked around and not one kid was doing the same thing. The best part was the kids were having the time of their lives, though. Mommy and Daddy ended up opening the rest of the presents while the kids played.
We want to thank everyone who came to the party for celebrating this special day with our family! It wouldn't have been the same without you there! Trenton is extremely blessed to have such wonderful friends and family in his life. We especially want to thank Granna and Opa for all their help getting the clubhouse ready for the party! We couldn't have done it without you!
Trenton, you were fun to watch! We can't believe you're already one! You are growing so fast! May your 2nd year be as blessed as your 1st! We love you!

What is this Mommy put on me?!
He wasn't so sure about that hat, and it was hard to keep it on his head at first!

Snowed In!
Well, it is our 5th day of being snowed in, and yes, we are getting stir crazy! Trenton has found new fun in the house, though, including climbing into the dishwasher, throwing "sock" balls while Mommy does the laundry, and chasing the broom while sweeping. Obviously, it is pretty hard to get chores done around the house these days because he is right there getting into the mess.
We sure feel lucky to have such great next door neighbors! Trenton and Rylan love playing together (really just the variation of toys at this stage) and I can't complain about the adult interaction. We have alternated days of hosting play dates so the boys can have a change of scenery while being snowed in. Although we are just feet away from each other's house, it is extremely icy out there and we have to be very careful walking next door. I can only imagine what the roads are like. Thankfully, we haven't had to drive anywhere yet and we stocked up with groceries last Sunday. Poor Daddy had to brave the roads on Day 3 to go to work. The melting is supposed to really start today.
