Cooped Inside...Ain't No Thing!

It was a flash back to the flu this week.  Well, thankfully no one was sick, but we pretty much lived in pjs and didn't leave the house for almost a week.  There was no reason to risk it with the snow, and inside play was just as fun.  The boys enjoyed playing together and exploring new toys from Christmas or Trenton's birthday.  I loved this cooped up time with them.  No errands, no driving, just good ol' play.
Playing remote control cars together.  Placing quarters in Trenton's US Quarter Collection Map book.
 Playing switch and goes dinos.
Jumping in the good ol' bounce house.  We leave a room in the basement devoted to it for the winter months.  It's perfect!
Just the two of us!  We have so much fun together!!
We got out the marble run. It was Bennett's 1st time playing it and he loved it!  He also is a big fan on the fishing puzzle.  (We found the magnetic rod inside the marble run box so now can do the puzzle again!)
Daddy still had to work, but the boys chilled with him in the evenings after he was home from work.

Snow Days

We sure enjoyed Daddy working from home today and being able to play with us a little in the snow.  We sledded more, piled snow in buckets, built a bucket snowman (the snow was still really soft), and of course, took out our normal fun toys to just run around with.  We had a morning snow session and an afternoon one.
Filling buckets for snowball fights.  Getting pulled by Daddy!
Trenton pulled out our Georgia flag.  It was pretty cute!
Two brothers playing in the snow!
Bennett's turn to sled.  Trenton found his water surf board for the pool in the garage toy box.  He was upset that it wouldn't go on the snow.  (Check out Kevin's solution later!)
Boys will be boys!  Swords and balls out in the snow!
Next to sledding, Bennett liked playing "touchdown"....that's what he calls football and carrying a bucket of snow around best.
Bennett helps Daddy build the snowman.  We used chocolate chips for the eyes, mouth and button.  I think most of them were eaten.  :)
Making our tracks around Hampton Ridge.
Warmest kid on the block in this snowsuit!
Trenton can play knights anywhere!  Kevin's solution was his snowboard!
 Warmest and cutest!  :)
Good memories of 2014!

Just Good Ol' Boys

I suppose this is "dress up" for boys.  I wouldn't know any different but they always get into our shoes!

Snowpocalypse

We asked for snow, and we got it!  When it came, it hit our town hard.  School were released early as the flake began their steady flow mid morning, and immediately the roads iced over.  By noon, roads were jammed with everyone leaving to get home.  Atlanta was paralyzed.  Literally.  It took my 1 hr 45 min to drive my 5 mile trek to the sitters house and then 3 hrs from there to get home with the kids (a normal 20 min drive.)  I have never seen anything like this.  Every street and highway were bumper to bumper.  Traffic was at a stand still.  Everywhere. Cars were abandoned on the side of roads.  Hills had cars sliding in the attempt to make it up them.  Luckily, the boys napped the first part of the drive, then were playing in the back the second half.  They were wonderful!  I had snacks, and Trenton only had to take one pee break in the snow.   We turned around because of road closures a few times, but eventually made it home, safely thanks to our 4 wheel drive.  This we are thankful for!

Kevin's commute was worse, but all we wanted was for him to make it home safely and this we got!  He was in the car over almost 10 hours and finally arrived home at 2am.  He had to park his car at the entrance of our neighborhood and walk the remainder of the way.  I enjoyed hearing his stories, some humorous  (A guy driving with a gallon of milk on his car!) and others scary (He got stuck once, but managed to get back on road with the help of a stranger.)  The snowpocalypse is here!

We pulled up to our snow covered house and all the boys wanted to do was get out and play in it!  Who could blame them?  Not only did it look fun, but they had been cooped up in the car for so long.
 Trenton ran around immediately.
Bennett watched and took it all in.
Then the playing took full force!

Trenton helped Bennett enjoy it, that's for sure!
Snowball anyone?  Time to sled!  I pulled them and they rode together down smaller hills.
Bennett liked pulling the sled himself, too.
We left our marks on the yard.  It was getting dark and we had been outside for a solid hour.  Time to warm up!
I had sushi for dinner, and Trenton enjoyed eating his chicken nuggets with chopsticks.  He's a riot!

Hot Chocolate

A group of my teacher friends ran Atlanta's Hot Chocolate with me this weekend.  It was a 15K (9.3 miles) and my longest race ever.  Although it was a bitterly cold morning, we were able to hang out in the CNN building before catching the shuttle to Turner Field, the start of the race.  That helped so much!  The race itself was perfect.  I like running in the cold, and it was bright and sunny out.  The course weaved up and down Atlanta's hills traveling through various neighborhoods such as Turner Field, Grant Park and the zoo, Inman Park, Georgia State and downtown.  Afterwards you received a deluxe bowl of chocolate fondue with various dipping items.  It was yummy and well earned!  Then, we ate a delicious OK Cafe brunch  Looking forward to our next race, ladies!
The 15K runners: Cassie, Allyson, me, Chrissy and Laura.  The fabulous chocolate bowl: hot chocolate, chocolate dipping sauce for the banana, rice krispie treat, marshmallow, pretzel, and cookie.
Thanks 5K runners for waiting around for us 15Kers!  All the Brumby ladies: Amy, Jess, Allyson, Kristin, me, Chrissy, Cassie and Laura (Brittany had already left.)

Bennett's 1st Haircut

There is no doubt about it.  Bennett cracks me up with his unique personality.  He thinks he is invisible when he lays his head on my shoulder.  If there is a stranger, they won't see him.  If we are at the nursery, he will not have to go.  Well, he pulled the trick again at the hair salon.  He thought I would not put him in the chair, but I did.  Yes, he clung to me, but once I pried his little fingers off me and strapped him in there was no turning back.  He didn't scream.  He didn't cry.  He just avoided me all together. His look was stern and serious, and by golly, I was only a foot away, but he was not going to make eye contact or smile until it was all over.  It was Mommy's pay back for making him get a haircut, I guess.  Somehow, serious or not, he is still the cutest little one year old I know!  I love these series of photos.  He is all B!
The boys play in the back of the car now.  They pass food, chapstick, toys....you name it....back and forth to each other.  Today, they had a sword fight.  You would have thought they were at Disney World by the sound of their laughs.  It was tons of fun apparently.  It's off to......
To get Bennett's 1st haircut!  His hair really isn't that long.  It was a huge decision for me.  Mommy could definitely keep it like it is, but recently he's been called a girl more often, and I think it is due to his really long comb over.  So, I figured it was a good way to spend Friday afternoon.
The seriousness begins.  He gripped tightly to the chair and would not give in to a smile.  It was hilarious!
I'd say the comb over was a good 8 in.  Haha!
"I can't believe she is making me do this!"
If only his look could talk.  LOL!
"Really, Mom?  And all you want to do is try to get me to smile?  Stubbornness runs in the family! I will not look at you.  I will not look at you.  I can do this."
 "Is it over yet?"
"Ok, I give up!  That wasn't so bad.  I look pretty good.  I'll smile for you."
Bennett was awesome on the radar.  We are so proud of him for being a brave little boy and getting his hair cut like his big brother!
He looks like one adorable little boy now with his big boy haircut.
Momma is really happy with the result.  The perfect amount of hair was trimmed.  I'm always so fearful because we have definitely had our share of butcher jobs.  This one trimmed where needed but left the little wisps near his face.
Playing at the Avenue before getting into the car to go home.
