For Memorial Day, we took Trenton to the Arbor Bridge pool. This was Mommy's pool when she was growing up. Since it was the holiday weekend, we tried to get there early, before the neighborhood kids arrived and the pool became too crowded. Plus, we didn't know how he would react to the water and if it would be too cold for him since it was only May. Thankfully, it was not a short lived experience at the pool. Trenton loved it! He'd laugh, smile, and squeal as he kicked the water. We can't wait to take him back!

ExerSaucer
Trenton had his first slumber party at Granna and Opa's house this weekend. Although we've gone out on several occasions, it was no big deal before because he wasn't sleeping through the night. He would wake up for his 10:00 feeding and we were back home, or one of us was still at the house with him while the other went out. But, we had a wedding, so it was an all evening and into the night event. Technically, it was our first time away from Trenton at bedtime when we wouldn't see him until the following morning. Sad--I'll get over it! We must have woken him up once we got home because we had a pleasant surprise at midnight--an awake baby--just as we were getting ready for bed. He did go right back to sleep after eating, thank goodness! Mommy is babying stepping her way into leaving her little boy overnight. (And that will be here before we know it because another wedding next weekend!)
Apparently, it is harder on Mommy than Trenton. He didn't even know we were gone! He had the best time in playing in the Little Einstein ExerSaucer. The next morning he showed us just how fun the toy was. Mommy and Daddy are going to need to get one of these for our house!

A Growing Boy
Trenton must be going through a growth spurt this week. He is sucking down every last drop of his bottles and now nursing both sides completely. He seems to get fidgety when the milk is running out or his bottle is done. Good thing he is beginning to eat cereal now. Hopefully that will help fulfill his hunger. I think my body is finally starting to adjust to his greater need for milk these days.....for a couple days there I was starting to wonder if I'd ever make enough!
It's after feeding time.....can you tell? :)

Eating Solids
We gave Trenton his first solid foods today, if that is what you can call it. The rice cereal is still completely a liquid for the baby's first helpings, but still, it was with a spoon so we're counting it. At first Trenton seemed to be more curious about the bib. He wanted that in his mouth. Pretty much anything these days goes into the mouth as I'm sure you have learned from the pictures on the blog! Once Mommy could get the bib out long enough to shove a spoonful of rice cereal in, Trenton realized he liked that, too. He probably only ate about an ounce of rice cereal but I think that is perfectly fine for his first time with it.
Trenton loved his bib.
Is this what I'm supposed to eat?
Mmmm, this is even better!
Still eating......
Ok, I'm full!

Opa's in Charge
Mommy needed to pack up her classroom and do some finishing touches around school before heading out for the summer. And who did we find as our babysitter? No other than the infamous Opa! Trenton absolutely loved his time with Opa! He was all smiles and giggles when Mommy would get home. I'd walk in and hear Opa saying, "Two hand, two hands," and Opa would be wiggling Trenton's football rattle in the air for Trenton to grab. Opa said they also enjoyed watching ESPN's Hook and Look fishing show and Lacrosse. We're definitely making Trenton a well-rounded athlete and outdoorsman!
Although all the baby gadgets have advanced significantly over the years, Opa seems to have the bottle warmer, videomonitor and stroller down packed. We know who to call on if we ever need a sitter, and I'm sure he'd gladly do it anyday!

Houseboat
Trenton really enjoyed his first trip on the Crimson Commodore. He loved seeing his cousins again and cruising on the water. Riley adores Trenton, and it was cute to get all the little ones together again. We wondered how Trenton would do with a different sleeping environment, but nothing appeared to bother him. His naps and bedtime sleep were just the same as at home, which we are thankful for. Plus, there were plenty of extra helping hands to take care of Trenton all weekend long.
Now the drive up there was a bit more eventful than our last road trip. Although Trenton took a two and a half hour nap while driving the interstate, as soon as we hit the back roads for the remaining hour, he was wide awake. Let's just say we practiced a little exercising.....of the lungs, that is. Twenty minutes feels like an eternity with a crying baby but at least GiGi was there to climb in the back to entertain Trenton. Country roads and an upset baby don't mix well!
The drive back was better. Timing is everything we learned. Feeding 'em, burp 'em, play and then let 'em settle into a nice nap for the drive.

Riley wanted to hold Trenton immediately after they arrived.

Trenton so happy about being at the lake!
Trenton loves the breeze in his face! It is hard to see but there is a little fish on his bottom.

Sophie the Giraffe
We really think Trenton may be teething or at least on the verge of it. It is really hard to tell and we could be completely wrong, but it says teething can occur anywhere from 3-7 months. His drooling is ridiculous and everything he touches goes into his mouth. Immediately, he starts gnawing away on it, too. Thus, Sophie the Giraffe has become one of his all-time favorite toy recently. Her reputation and prestige around the world is stunning, so we had to give this toy a try. I had not heard of Sophie before Trenton, but apparently this toy, which started in Paris in 1961, does wonders for babies. Trenton absolutely loves her so I guess it's true! He loves how the legs, neck and head can easily fit into his mouth, and the soft rubber is perfect for his gums. Apparently the contrasting colors are appealing to babies, and there is a unique taste and smell to the organic rubbery material she is made out of. She also squeaks when you squeeze her. Sophie adheres to all five sense and that is why babies get a kick out of the toy supposedly. Kind of sounds like a dog toy, huh? Hey, if Trenton loves it, so do we!

Gardening in the Bjorn
Trenton absolutely loves his bjorn! He gets to look out at the world around him while Mommy does tasks around the house. His favorite (and Mommy's too) is to water the plants, or as Daddy says, "Watering the crops." We have tomato and okra plants in addition to our flowers, and Daddy thinks that sounds more manly for Trenton (and himself) to do. Trenton grips on tight to Mommy's hand and she waters with the other. It seems that to also relax him because after we go back inside, he snuggles into my chest and is ready to nap. Before I even get up stairs to put Trenton in his crib, he is fast asleep.
Trenton gets so excited when I put him in the bjorn.
Trenton in his watering hat, loving the bjorn and the world around him.

Trenton's Baptism
It was a memorable day for our family. Trenton Luke Wagers was baptized today at Marietta First United Methodist Church. Not only were GiGi, PaPaw, Granna, Opa, Uncle Brad and Aunt Jacquelyn there, but our friends Rosemary, Lorene, Lamar, Kristen and Erich were able to join us in celebrating the special occasion. We feel very blessed to have them apart of this unforgettable moment in Trenton's life.
Trenton has always been good in church so today was nothing out of the ordinary. The only change was keeping him awake longer so he could make it to the baptism part. He usually falls asleep during the opening hymn, but with a little extra effort he lasted the additional ten minutes until the baptism time. Dr. Sam Matthews performed the cermony and the congregation welcomed Trenton into the church. Trenton was absolutely adorable in his little romper attire, perfectly well behaved during the baptism, and a such trooper during the worship service (he fell asleep soon after his baptism, or course!)
Granna and Opa invited everyone over for lunch afterward. Trenton received a special book titled The Oak Inside the Acorn by Max Lucado and a decorative cross from Uncle Brad and Aunt Jacquelyn. We look forward to reading the story to Trenton over the years and remembering his baptism each time we look at the cross. We also enjoyed the baptism picture frame from Opa and Granna and look forward to putting a picture from today in it. Even more memorable was Trenton's baptism outfit, which they had given him as special gift a couple weeks before. Not only did Mommy love the outfit, but it is a unique gift that we hope to keep in the family for future baptisms.
